Mr. Sewell became “Of Counsel” with Patterson Intellectual Property Law in Nashville, Tennessee, in February 2015. He was a solo patent practitioner from 2005 to 2015 in Newport Beach, California, and in Franklin, Tennessee. He was a partner at Knobbe, Martens, Olson & Bear in Orange County, California, from 1983 to 2004. Mr. Sewell was a lawyer with Deutsch, Kerrigan & Stiles in New Orleans from 1980 to 1983.

Mr. Sewell designed and tested processors, memories and peripheral devices for aerospace computers for Control Data Corporation in Bloomington, Minnesota, from 1971 to 1980.
